International Women's Day: Highlighting Our Executives

Carol Buettner, VP of Private Banking

Carol has been with Superior for 10 years and has 37 total years of banking experience.

Carol’s a community-oriented Banking Executive with an extensive background in consumer, commercial and mortgage lending. She provides quality professional service with an emphasis on the extension of credit and marketing of other bank services to corporate and consumer clients. She’s a proactive individual who maintains a high profile in the community.

Favorite thing about her job: “Helping to make people's dreams come true; whether it be owning a home, starting a new business, expanding a business or more.”

Stacey Deitering, Chief Financial Officer

Stacey started working at Superior in August 2018. Stacey oversees and manages the accounting functions. She also prepares monthly financial reports and forecasting models.

Favorite thing about her job: “Working with a great group of coworkers that truly care about their members!"

Advice for women: “Don't be afraid to takes risks. I just switched from 15 years in Healthcare to a Credit Union and it was the best move I have ever made. Make sure you network. It's a small world and you never know how someone you meet now may become a resource later.”

Wendy Donley, VP of Consumer Lending & Sales

Wendy has worked here for 33 years after starting part-time while attending college.

Wendy oversees 11 branches in Superior’s Central Region. She worked in a variety of departments, including the teller line and accounting, before getting into the sales side as a loan officer. She was also a branch manager before becoming the VP.

Favorite thing about her job: “I have always enjoyed helping people, whether it's balancing their checkbook, financing a car or helping to make a savings plan. Now my duties include mentoring others to do the same and to promote the credit union philosophy of people helping people.”

Advice for women: “Embrace change and always be willing to learn new things. Be reliable, accountable and a team player. Don't be afraid to ask for more responsibility and maintain a positive, friendly attitude.”

Michelle Snyder, VP Mortgage Lending

Michelle started at Superior in 2000 as one of the two individuals that started The Mortgage Center. She was named VP of Mortgage Lending in 2005.

Michelle oversees the operations and loan production of the Mortgage Department, manages the Mortgage Loan officers and originators, develops and maintain all Mortgage Loan Programs, and is responsible for the overall production of all first mortgage loans for the Credit Union.

Under her management, Superior Credit Union has become the largest residential mortgage lending financial institution in Allen, Auglaize, Hardin and Putnam Counties. A native of Michigan, she is a big fan of the Michigan Wolverines.

Favorite thing about her job: “Everything. There is never a dull moment and no two days are the same. I love helping people finance their dreams. I am very blessed to work with some of the best Lenders and real estate partners in the industry.”

Advice for women: “If you want something, work for it! Stay humble while you are working your way up. Never give up and never forget where you came from and who came with you. Finally, if you are going to do something, always strive to be the BEST.”

Kelly Vogt, VP of Business Development

Kelly has been with Superior since the CINCO merger in 2017. She was with CINCO for 15 years prior. She develops and maintains business relationships within our Southern Markets.

Favorite thing about her job: “Building relationships and partnerships with great companies and people throughout Cincinnati. I've been given opportunities to meet and speak with some pretty incredible people. I am excited about our new partnership with the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. We are proud supporters of UC and Xavier athletics and I’m eager to build more long-lasting partnerships within the Cincinnati Region.”

Advice for women: “People will tell you that you are going to fail – don't let that stop you! It's part of the journey; learn from it. Market yourself by being confident in who you are and continue to endeavor new obstacles. Remember, you don't have to be in Management to be a great LEADER! You must also truly believe in what you are representing, be true to yourself and be proud of your accomplishments.”

Jan VonDerEmbse, VP of Trusts and Investments

Jan has been with Superior since October 2007.

As VP of Trusts and Investments, Jan helps individuals develop and implement a prudent investment strategy and financial plan that will see them through life’s evolving stages. She manages investment risk using portfolios that are tax smart, highly diversified and have low expenses. She provides Trusteed IRA’s, special needs trusts, settlement trusts and many other services.

Favorite thing about her job: “I truly enjoy being a part of each client’s life. Each individual situation is a puzzle with many pieces. It’s my job to figure out what’s missing and how I can help put it all together.”

Advice for women: “You build a great reputation by putting the client first and developing relationships with them and their families. My best advice is to always do what’s best for the client. It’s the little things and details that matter the most. By being sincere and truly wanting what’s best for them, educating them and listening to them, and developing trust, referrals happen naturally.”

Melanie Weldy, Chief Operations Officer

Melanie has been with Superior Credit Union for almost 13 years! As the COO, she oversees all daily operations.

Favorite thing about her job: “Every day is different and presents new challenges.”

Advice for women: “Find your balance between work and your home life. Create value in yourself by investing in education and make it a point to learn new things. Best advice I ever received: Go above and beyond!”
