Superior To Hold Financial Education Day For Local High School Students

LIMA, OH—Superior Credit Union, the University of Northwestern Ohio, and OSU Extension will hold the 11th Annual Superior Financial Education Day on Thursday, September 18th from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM. The event provides an informative and interactive financial education program for area high school juniors and seniors. The event will be hosted at the University of Northwestern Ohio Event Center.

Juniors and seniors from Allen East, Bluffton, Kalida, Lima Senior, and Perry will be participating in this year’s session. Approximately 441 students will attend the daylong event. “We are delighted to once again partner with our local schools to educate students about finances,” said Kurt Neeper, Vice-President of Business Development at Superior Credit Union.

Superior Credit Union and the OSU Extension will provide the student financial education programs. Topics to be covered include: Investments & Credit and Budgeting - including a Real Money, Real World simulation in which the students must choose a future career path and then budget their lifestyle based upon that career’s projected earnings.

During the 2013-14 school year, Superior helped to produce ten Real Money, Real World events, educating more than 2,700 local students from 24 area schools on budgeting. Since the inception of Superior Financial Education Day in 2004, Superior has provided financial education programs to over 10,000 local students.
